The Inspiration Behind “Taco Baby”
“Taco Baby” draws from Jacob’s personal experiences during his wife’s pregnancy. The script was inspired by a humorous yet profound moment when Jacob’s wife craved Taco Bell during her drive home from work. Her playful comment, “I didn’t want Taco Bell; the baby did,” sparked the idea for the film. Jacob channeled his anxieties and uncertainties about fatherhood into the story, blending them with the comedic premise of a man who begins to question if his unborn child is actually the Taco Bell chihuahua. This playful yet poignant narrative culminates in a touching realization: it doesn’t matter what the child is; it’s the father’s child.
The Challenges of Production
The film’s production was both a creative challenge and a rewarding experience. The entire film was shot in a single, marathon day, testing the endurance and coordination of the cast and crew. Despite the demanding schedule, Jacob’s passion for the project and the support of his team ensured its successful completion.
A Return to Filmmaking
This short marks Jacob’s directorial debut since graduating from film school a decade ago. While he has acted in friends’ films over the years, it wasn’t until the birth of his daughter that he felt inspired and confident enough to bring his own vision to the screen. “Taco Baby” represents both a personal milestone and a creative comeback for Jacob.

Jones is perhaps best known for his portrayal of Darth Vader in the *Star Wars* franchise, a role that solidified his status as a cultural icon. His deep, resonant voice not only brought life to the menacing character but also made him a beloved figure in film history. He also voiced Mufasa in Disney’s *The Lion King*, further showcasing his vocal talents and ability to connect with audiences across generations.
Over his illustrious career, which spanned more than six decades, Jones received numerous accolades, including three Tony Awards, two Emmy Awards, and a Grammy. His contributions to theater, film, and television were recognized with a lifetime achievement award from the Academy in 2011, underscoring his impact on the arts.
Born on January 17, 1931, in Arkabutla, Mississippi, Jones faced challenges early in life, including a stutter that he worked hard to overcome.
