Hyperpigmentation is a common skin concern, and if it affects you, there are products you can try. If you prefer natural ingredients, vitamin C serums can be a great option, as they often have simpler ingredient lists. Keep reading for our list of 18 of the best vitamin C serums for hyperpigmentation on the market today, and how they can help make your skin goals come true.

What is Vitamin C and how can it help me?

Vitamin C is one of the safest and most popular single vitamins in the world, and while it is commonly taken as a supplement, it is also used in a lot of skincare products. Vitamin C has been known for years to have health benefits—from helping strengthen your immune system and alleviating symptoms of colds and flus to helping protect your skin against the signs of aging. Research shows that, along with health benefits, vitamin C can also assist with easing hyperpigmentation, enhancing radiance, and helping us maintain an overall even skin tone.

What is hyperpigmentation?

Hyperpigmentation is a common skin condition that shows up as we age, and it can affect even the most clear-skinned person at some point in their lives. It is also commonly known as liver spots, age spots, or sun spots. Hyperpigmentation can show up in patches or spots in a variety of different colors, like brown, gray, black, pink, and red. Because of this variety, hyperpigmentation can also be quite a nuisance to cover using everyday makeup products.

Currently, there is a range of products on the market that can be used to help tackle hyperpigmentation, like chemical peels or laser therapies. However, these can be invasive, costly, and sometimes take weeks to recover from—whereas most vitamin C serums are topical and can be applied with ease at home. To top it off, vitamin C serums are highly effective in combating discoloration and hyperpigmentation.

We all know that as time goes on, our skin becomes more susceptible to damage from cuts and bumps, as well as from harsh environmental factors such as exposure to UV rays and pollution. This extends to being more susceptible to hyperpigmentation occurrence as we age and our skin becomes more delicate.

Kelsea Ballerini slipped into her best little black dress as she prepared for her first date in her official “How Do I Do This (The Final Chapter)” music video.

“They say to get out with the old, you get in with the new / And I haven’t been on a date since I was 22,” Ballerini, 30, starts off singing in the Friday, December 1, video, while wearing sweatpants following her divorce from Morgan Evans. “My friend has a friend and they say they’re my type / And then they texted me once / And then they texted me twice / Saying, ‘Are you free Saturday? I know a spot’ / So, I typed out a couple million ways to respond / But I landed with ‘Yes’ / S—t, so where the hell is my dress?”

After nervously texting her future date — which she’s previously hinted was now-boyfriend, Chase Stokes — Ballerini gets dolled up in a Cinderella blue dress while dreaming about the possible new romance. She continues to primp and sing to herself in the mirror before chopping off her long locks as part of her new phase post-divorce.

Ballerini released the song “How Do I Do This (The Final Chapter)” in August as part of her Rolling Up the Welcome Mat (For Good) EP.

The initial album came out in February and documented Ballerini’s divorce from Evans, 38, which was finalized in November 2022. The twosome were married for nearly five years before their split.

While fans of Kelsea Ballerini and Morgan Evans may have been caught off guard by their 2022 split, the country singers had seen the writing on the wall. “I think when there’s a big life decision like that, it’s not a sudden one,” Ballerini told CBS Mornings in October 2022 of what led to her divorce. “And […]

“It’s about the nerves of going into a very unknown world,” Ballerini exclusively told Us Weekly in August of the song. “And, to me, I felt like since I hadn’t really gotten to share my story in my perspective on what had happened in my life yet, that needed to come second. That is part two.”

The Grammy nominee explained: “I felt like I really wanted to talk about, you know, the breakup, and let that kind of live in one piece. And then if I ever decided to do what we’re doing now — Rolling Up the Welcome Mat (For Good) — then that would be kind of the extension of the story. And especially now, I’ve been in a new relationship for a while now, and people have seen that. So I feel like it’s a really appropriate time to catch everyone up and to be able to move the narrative from the past to the present.”

Ballerini touches on the butterflies she felt stepping into her post-divorce dating era in the track, singing, “Like, is it wrong to take a shot? / I’m freaking out like ‘Oh, my God’ / ‘Cause now it’s 7:00 on the dot.” She also name-drops Kelly Clarkson in one verse, revealing she called Clarkson, 41, “for a talk” before the big night.

The lawsuit comes days after Lisa shared an Instagram Story photo of a bruise on her arm and hinted that Lenny had previously abused her.

“Didn’t want to have to share this, but I’m left with no choice. I’m being harassed through the court system and through ‘others’ by Lenny and it needs to stop,” Lisa captioned the November 22 post, which has since expired, but the plastic surgeon included a screenshot in his filing. “This was almost two weeks old from last season. You may have caught this bruise on the episode when I opened up to the women on the show about the divorce.”

Real Housewives of Miami viewers know it’s been a rocky road for Lisa and Lenny Hochstein, but there were signs their marriage was over before they officially called it quits. Bravo viewers were introduced to Lisa and her plastic surgeon husband when she joined the cast of RHOM during season 2. For two seasons, fans […]

In his court filing, Lenny, 57, vehemently denies Lisa’s allegations and claims his ex is harassing him. Lenny claimed in his lawsuit that Lisa, 41, got the bruise after she “lost her balance” while walking up a set of stairs while the pair were having an argument.

“It came about because [Lisa] as usual was yelling at and berating [Lenny] when he came home from work, as she did almost daily telling him how he never does anything right, so [Lenny] attempted to walk away and started walking up the stairs and [Lisa] walked in front of [him] going backwards up the stairs so she could continue yelling in [his] face and [she] lost her balance and fell on a stair,” read Lenny’s filing.

“Nothing can be further from the truth,” he adds in court docs about the alleged abuse claim.

In turn, the doctor accuses the reality star of cheating on him with her current boyfriend, Jody Glidden, in the newly filed documents. Calling her the “real ‘homewrecker’ of Miami,” he claims Lisa was with Glidden the night the CEO was supposed to get married to his ex-fiancée.

In response to the lawsuit, Lisa tells Us: “We haven’t received anything. This DOES seem like something ‘litigator Lenny’ would do as he’s made it clear he’s out to financially strangle me. He’s not happy unless he’s suing.”

Last year, Lisa accused Lenny of cutting off her credit card, leaving her unable to “buy food and diapers” for their children. The duo share son Logan, 8, and daughter Elle, 4. In April, Lenny was ordered to pay his estranged wife $8,000 a month in temporary support.

While it seemed like the pair were on the verge of settling their divorce, Lenny filed to withdraw his settlement in August.
