Justin Baldoni Sues New York Times for $250M Over Blake Lively Story
Justin Baldoni, the director and co-star of “It Ends With Us,” has filed a $250 million libel lawsuit against The New York Times, escalating the legal drama surrounding the film’s production. The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, also names producer Jamey Heath, Wayfarer Studios, and publicists Jennifer Abel and Melissa Nathan as co-plaintiffs.
The legal action comes in response to a New York Times article published on December 21, 2024, titled “‘We Can Bury Anyone’: Inside a Hollywood Smear Machine”. This article detailed allegations made by Blake Lively, Baldoni’s co-star, who accused him of sexual harassment on set and orchestrating a smear campaign against her.
Baldoni’s lawsuit alleges that the Times article relied “almost entirely” on Lively’s “unverified and self-serving narrative” while disregarding “an abundance of evidence that contradicted her claims”. The complaint argues that the newspaper cherry-picked and altered communications, stripping them of context to mislead readers.
The New York Times has stated that it stands by its reporting, describing the story as “meticulously and responsibly reported” based on a review of thousands of pages of original documents. The newspaper has vowed to “vigorously defend against the lawsuit”.
This legal action adds another layer to the ongoing controversy surrounding “It Ends With Us.” Despite the film’s box office success, it has been overshadowed by the public dispute between its lead actors. The lawsuit and its outcome could have significant implications for journalism, celebrity disputes, and the entertainment industry’s handling of harassment allegations.

Charles Viney Jr: Bringing Redemption to the Stage
Charles Viney Jr delivers a standout performance as Don, the husband of Karen (played by Ashley Hasker), in Wisdom Productions’ Love Brought Me Back. His portrayal adds a rich layer of complexity to a character grappling with the weight of his past and the desire for redemption, making him a focal point of this compelling narrative.
Viney describes Don as “a troubled man” whose journey reflects the struggles many face in their relationships and personal lives. He emphasizes that Don’s path to redemption is not just about mending his marriage to Karen but also about reconnecting with his faith. “Through his course of finding his way back to God and finding his way back to repentance with his wife, that’s the biggest message for the men,” he explains. Viney believes that while salvation is achievable, it requires patience and trust in the process. “You can find salvation, but you have to trust the process and you can’t rush anything,” he advises.
Love Brought Me Back delves deeply into the complexities of relationships, particularly focusing on forgiveness and communication. Viney underscores that forgiveness is essential not just between couples but also in broader contexts. “Definitely forgiveness,” he states when asked about key elements for couples. He highlights a pivotal scene in the play that addresses this theme, suggesting it will resonate strongly with male viewers. “I think it’ll speak to a lot of men that watch it,” he notes, encouraging them to reflect on their own lives and consider conversations they’ve been avoiding.
The play serves as a catalyst for personal growth and introspection. Viney hopes that men watching will be inspired to think critically about their actions and relationships. He envisions audience members contemplating, “You know what? I think I should change some of the things I’ve been doing in my life. I think I should have a conversation I’ve been reluctant to have.”

Spotlight on Ashley Hasker: Portraying Karen in Love Brought Me Back
Ashley Hasker is captivating audiences with her powerful portrayal of Karen in the thought-provoking play Love Brought Me Back, produced by Wisdom Productions LLC. This production not only engages viewers with its heartfelt narrative but also serves as a profound exploration of love, communication, and the complexities of marriage.
The Role of Karen
In Love Brought Me Back, Hasker brings to life Karen, a millennial woman who embodies the ideal of a modern “fairytale” life. She is career-driven and aspires to have the perfect job, partner, and family. However, as the story unfolds, Karen faces significant challenges that force her to confront her expectations and the realities of her life. Hasker describes her character as someone who experiences a profound “wake-up call,” emphasizing that even when life seems to be going according to plan, unforeseen hurdles can disrupt everything.
Hasker explains why she was drawn to this role: “My role as Karen is very relatable. She’s a God-fearing woman who thinks she has everything figured out. But through this journey, she gets her wake-up call. You can have everything going to plan, and then one hurdle comes or a couple of hurdles come, and you think everything that you’ve been through is for nothing.” This sentiment underscores the play’s core message about resilience and growth through adversity.
Themes of Love and Redemption
Love Brought Me Back is more than just a narrative about relationships; it celebrates love’s resilience. The story revolves around a husband grappling with his past mistakes and striving to win back his wife. Through humor and raw emotion, he embarks on a transformative journey that highlights the importance of self-discovery and redemption. As audiences witness his struggles and triumphs, they are reminded of the lengths one will go to reclaim love.
Hasker emphasizes that her role allows her to convey an essential message: tests and trials are necessary for personal growth. “I feel like this role drew me because it allows me to deliver a message to others that these times are needed; tests are needed,” she reflects. “Sometimes God pushes you through these tests so that you can strengthen yourself for what lies ahead.” This theme resonates throughout the play as both characters navigate their emotional roller coasters in pursuit of understanding and forgiveness.
