“The Curve”: Finding Humor in the Wrong
We’re thrilled to introduce Cormac Bluestone, an amazing producer-director-editor-composer who is making waves in the industry! His latest project, “The Curve,” has earned them a spot as a finalist for the Best Comedy Film Award at the Houston Comedy Film Festival.
The Inspiration Behind “The Curve”
The idea for The Curve was inspired by a Reddit post about a student who did too well on a test, upsetting a group of graduating seniors. Bluestone found the story hilarious and began developing Sandra, the film’s antagonist, around this concept. “I have always loved wrong answers,” says Bluestone. “In the proper context, they can be funny and revealing about a person’s character or circumstances. With The Curve, I wanted to create a film where the humor lies not just in the dialogue or situation but also in the shots and editing. The characters are archetypes, designed to be instantly relatable and likable, making you want to hang out with them as they navigate the highs and lows of achieving their goals.”
Challenges that were Encountered
“The most challenging part of making The Curve was time,” he recalls. “We had a very limited time at our main location, and with almost 80 setups to complete, it was an intense day that added to the film’s intensity.”
Journey into Filmmaking
With over 15 years of experience in the industry, Bluestone has worn many hats, including acting, producing, directing, editing, and composing music. His diverse background has given him a unique perspective on filmmaking, allowing him to explore different facets of storytelling.
What’s Next?
Currently, Bluestone is working on a few short scripts to direct in the fall and is writing a feature film that he hopes to produce in the future.
