Officials confirmed that a University of North Carolina faculty member was killed on a campus building on Monday afternoon. UNC Police Chief Brian James said in a news conference that the suspect was apprehended a little over an hour after the shots were first reported.

The first alert from the school came out around noon CDT, citing an “armed, dangerous person on or near campus.

Although images began circulating across social media of the person of interest in connection with the shooting, authorities are not releasing the suspect’s name and, as of now, formal charges have not been filed according to Police Chief James.

There were no other deaths or injuries.
