Louisiana Woman Accused of Buying Lamborghini While Collecting Medicaid

A Louisiana woman was arrested in late July 2025 for allegedly committing Medicaid fraud while purchasing a luxury Lamborghini and paying for plastic surgery. Candace Taylor, 35, of Slidell, is accused of underreporting her income in order to qualify for Medicaid, despite making millions from her businesses between 2020 and 2024.

The Fraud Scheme

According to the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office, Taylor first applied for Medicaid benefits under the alias “Candace Sailor” in 2019. Initially, she reported an income of $1,900 bi-weekly, which resulted in coverage denial. She later reapplied in 2020, claiming no income, and was approved for Medicaid. Investigators say Taylor repeatedly lied about her income and failed to disclose her business ownership on renewal applications over several years.

Between January 2020 and December 2024, Taylor’s businesses reportedly earned more than $9.5 million. Despite this, Taylor continued to receive Medicaid benefits meant for low-income individuals.

Lavish Purchases and Arrest

Agents documented that Taylor made several large financial transactions inconsistent with someone eligible for Medicaid, including:

• Depositing over $480,000 into her bank account
• Making vehicle payments totaling more than $45,000
• Withdrawing multiple six-figure amounts for property purchases
• Buying luxury goods and services—including high-end jewelry and plastic surgery
• Purchasing a 2022 Lamborghini Urus for over $113,000.

Social media posts further showcased Taylor’s opulent lifestyle, helping authorities build their case.

Taylor was arrested on July 28, 2025, and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on government benefits fraud charges. She was later released on a $10,000 bond.

State Officials React

Attorney General Liz Murrill described the incident as a “flagrant fraud,” emphasizing that Medicaid is intended to help those who genuinely cannot afford medical care. “We spend a lot of money on these programs, and they are supposed to be helping people who cannot afford that medical care on their own. This is someone who very clearly was making a lot of money and could afford to obtain insurance,” Murrill stated.
