We’re thrilled to introduce Dianne Blomberg and Joseph Carabello, amazing screenwriters who are making waves in the industry! Their latest project, “Happy Landing,” has earned them a spot as a finalist for the Best Teleplay Award at the Houston Comedy Film Festival
The Inspiration Behind “Happy Landing”
The inspiration behind Happy Landing came directly from Dianne and Joe’s own lives. “Happy Landing was birthed from the truth—sort of,” they explain. The sitcom, set in a 55+ community in urban Austin, TX, follows two cash-strapped Boomers who run an illegal business from their condos. This 30-minute episodic series targets Boomers and their kids, offering a humorous yet relatable take on aging and the challenges it brings.
The Challenge of Writing
Although both Dianne and Joe are accomplished writers, “Happy Landing” was their first foray into screenwriting. “Learning the process was the most challenging part,” they admit. The journey took three years, but today, they are confident in their ability to craft engaging, entertaining teleplays.
A Duo of Experienced Writers
Dianne Bloomberg’s writing career began with her first published children’s picture book in 1999, while Joseph Carabello has been a freelance journalist since 2001. Together, they bring a wealth of experience to “Happy Landing,” blending their unique voices to create something truly special.
What’s Next?

Currently, Dianne and Joe are looking to connect with producers, directors, and managers to bring “Happy Landing” to life on screen. With a script that has already won several awards, they are optimistic about finding the right partners to help get the show sold.

The future looks bright for Dianne and Joe. They’re currently collaborating on a potential stage play or another TV comedy pilot called “Common Wall.” This new project revolves around two washed-up writers trying to revive their careers, only to find themselves in an unexpected vortex. Both writers also continue with their individual projects—Joe as a freelance journalist, and Dianne working on a book of essays.
