The Federal Aviation Administration will audit Boeing production in the wake of a midair blowout last week on an Alaska Airlines flight, the agency announced Friday.

On a Jan. 5 flight from Portland, Ore., to Ontario, Calif., an emergency exit door blew off the Boeing 737 Max 9 aircraft.

In its announcement, the FAA said it will conduct “an audit involving the Boeing 737-9 MAX production line and its suppliers to evaluate Boeing’s compliance with its approved quality procedures.”

“The results of the FAA’s audit analysis will determine whether additional audits are necessary,” the agency said in its Friday announcement.
